Form Spell Checking in Firefox
« on: 18 Feb 2010 12:11:02 AM »
Check your spelling in Firefox!

Description:
If like me you make horrific spelling mistakes constantly across the internet, and want to minimize or actually eradicate embarrassment whenever you decide to post on forums or when sending an E-Mail or whatever, this article might be your saviour!

Step 1: Firefox?
If you are not already using Firefox, it is an amazing web browser by Mozilla which is a whole lot better than any other browser I have ever used, it supports add-ons and has a massive community of add-ons for all your possible requirements. You can download the latest version from the Mozilla Firefox website.

Once you have it you will realise that it does not do any spell checking at all, but fear not! It does support it and all you need to do is get the dictionary for your language!

Step 2: Dictionary
In order for spell checking to work you need to grab a dictionary for your language, you can find the dictionary files on the Dictionaries & Language Packs page on the Mozilla Firefox website.
All you need to do is click "Install Dictionary" and Firefox should install it automatically.

Step 3: Spell checking in text-box's
On default Firefox will only apply spell checking to text-area's and not text-box's, to get this support just open a blank page and type "about:config" and press ENTER. Now navigate to the property named "layout.spellcheckDefault", double click on it and change the 1 to a 2.

Step 4: Restart Browser
Now just restart the browser and you should start to get awesome spell checking within the browser!!
