canvas size and new emoticon "parts"
« on: 21 Jun 2010 01:13:17 AM »
Hi Friends,
When I 1st visited the EM site a week or 2 ago, I saw a request for artists to make smiley parts.  I thought there were instructions as well, but didn't read that part, because I wasn't sure I wanted to be involved, at that point.  Anyway, now I've installed EM and played around with making smileys.  Quickly I found myself wanting things that aren't available, so I'm ready to try my hand at making some samples.  But now I can't find the info on the website about making smiley parts.  If that page is still around somewhere, could you give me a link?  Also for now, I have some questions.

First about size.  In EM there is a little canvas there that perfectly fits the medium size faces.  And I see that when a medium size face is saved, it is 20 x 20 px.  I haven't played with the small ones yet, because I don't forsee myself using them much.  But the large ones seem to have gained some popularity lately, so I played with them some.  Anyway, when you save a large sized one, it also gets saved at 20 x 20 px, so you can only see the center of the face (obviously because it was cropped off at the canvas size).  Also, if you have a medium sized face and put on for example, the cowboy hat, part of the hat gets cut off when you save it (Export).

Oh ok, now I see the "room"/canvas sizes.  But even the largest room is too small for the large faces.  They still get partially cut off by the canvas.  But the largest room/canvas does allow for most of the "Wear" items (haven't tried them all) to fit and not get cut off.  Hopefully this is something that can be fixed?  I guess I was assuming it's a bug, but maybe it's something on my end.  Am I missing something?

Fortunately for now, this doesn't stop me from starting some drawing  8).  So here are my questions about making more "parts" to contribute to the program:
1 - In what format should the part images be?
2 - How should I submit them:  a) for approval, and b) for inclusion in the program?  (plain old image files, PDF, ZIP, etc?)
3 - Where should they be submitted?

Thanks for your help :D

Hey, sorry my reply is REALLY late!

in answer to your questions...

1) Please submit GIF or PNG images to me (PNG better)
2) Please just attach them into this or another topic on this forum, put them in a ZIP if you have a few :)
3) Try to attach them into a Topic on the forums :)

Please if you use something like photoshop and you have the editable PSD, include those too :)

Thanks! Regards,
Dean Williams
